CATCH to hold final conference

The CATCH project will hold its final conference on 13 December 2011, at the University of West of England, Bristol, United Kingdom. The theme of the conference will be Carbon Aware Cities: A Multi-disciplinary Approach to Low Carbon Transport Systems.

The conference will consider the transition to a low carbon transport system, which requires a radical shift in how we move. This shift requires new technology, but importantly requires a change in the way we behave as individuals and how we plan and measure transport interventions. The required transition in transport behaviours requires an holistic approach since transport is intrinsically linked to many other areas of society and the economy.

CATCH stands for Carbon-Aware Travel Choice. It is an EU-funded project that has developed a resource to raise awareness among urban stakeholders of problems arising from greenhouse gas emissions, and the potential of local and international policy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from urban transport. CATCH has developed a knowledge platform that enables local decision-makers to move their city’s population towards less carbon-intensive transport. e-Forum is a communications partner in CATCH.
